On Thursday morning we lost our beautiful husband, dad, and Poppy.
Much loved husband of Lesley, adored father of Angie & Paula, Colin & Greg, cherished Poppy of Mitchell, Emma, Garth, Clara and Lucy and friend of Tony.
Alan will be remembered as a generous, loving, gentleman, who was passionate about helping others in so many different ways and always up for making a business deal!
Our entrepreneur is now resting, or maybe not!

Good neighbour and friend. Fond memories of farming life and travels. Condolences to Lesley, Angie, Paula and families.
A great and generous neighbour who made time to communicate with people! Always bright and cheerful! I am most pleased to have had him in my life. You will be missed .
Condolences to the lovely family!!😘
Alan & my dad (Ken) were really good mates who shared a love of Clay Target shooting. They had a lot of good times together and I recall many a weekend afternoon at the Gun Club.
Dad knew he could always depend on ‘Johns’y’ and held he and his family in high regard (as we all do).
My best wishes and sincere sympathy to Lesley, Angie, Paula & families.
A life well lived. RIP.
Malcolm and Robyn Johns and Family xx
Alan and his wife Lesley had the Red Poll Stud Rhyd-Talog at Colbinabbin for many years and Lesley was the Secretary of the Australian Red Poll Association for an extended period as well as winning major prizes with their cattle at Royal Melbourne Show and local country shows. They were instrumental in our purchasing a block of land adjoining their property in Colbinabbin. Alan was an excellent crop farmer but was also interested in supporting Lesley with the Red Poll Cattle. He assisted Nell and me in our farming ventures in Colbinabbin, giving advice and even lending his tractors and equipment when we were sowing crops. When we decided to build a shed on our property, he and his brother-in-law constructed it for us. He also was an innovator by inventing special tynes that he fitted to International Harvesters and Seeders. He established the business Alan Johns Machinery and was widely known for his precision repairs and innovative work. He was an astute businessman, with a dry humour and when he started bidding at an auction, he regularly kept bidding until he acquired the item. We send our condolences to Paula, Angela and their families.
In loving memory of Alan our good friend and neighbour. We have been blessed to know you and are thankful for your generosity of spirit. May you rest peacefully.
Our thoughts are with you all. Such a beautiful service. Uncle Alan you will be sadly missed. 😢
Such a beautiful service for a beautiful man. Blessed to have known you Al, rest peacefully knowing you have left such an inspiring legacy.
I will always be there for Ange and will be forever grateful that it was the connection with you that led to our friendship.
My heart hurts alongside all of your family and friends. X
A Gentlemen, an incredible man who taught me so much about machinery, farming, life, families and friends. Rest in peace old mate.
Dad
Dad, you were a strong and motivated man, you believed you needed to work hard to make a dollar and that you did.
There was a gentle and emotional side that we saw after a sad episode of Little House on the Prairie or the Sullivan’s and we would cry together.
I remember getting piggy back rides to bed and being sprayed with a water bottle when I wouldn’t get out of bed for school.
We spent a lot of fun times going shooting together, my favourite place was the Heathcote Gun Club where we both shot well and came home with plenty of sashes. I remember you used to bet me a few dollars as to who was going to shoot the best for the day. It wasn’t often that I was able to beat you dad.
It was sad seeing your deteriorating health in your later years, but you still got up and went out to work, feeding the cows or fixing water.
When you and mum both moved into BUPA it was heart warming to see you and mum hand in hand while you both nodded off in your chairs and you racing over at top speed to Shamrock to see her each day.
I am truly grateful for all the support you gave me and everything that you did for my family and I. I am very grateful for all the wonderful times we spent together.
I will miss our hugs and your cheeky dimpled smile.
You will always be in my heart.
Love you Dad
Ange xxxx
