I was the first person in NSW to build a Sailfish which was already a strong class in Victoria. Jack was a great help during the building and I stayed at his house when I went to Victoria with my Sailfish for the first National Sailfish Titles in 1968/1969. It was great to catch up with him and his family when he came to Sydney the following year for the National Sailfish Titles on my home water which I won. Jack was a canny sailor and knew how to get the best out of the Sailfish and it is great to see his son Brian carry on Jack’s winning ways. He will be missed.

Jack worked for my company, Ronstan, back in the ’80’s.
He was just the friendliest, most down to earth, hardest working, most loyal and honest person you could ever meet!
It was always a pleasure chin wagging about sailing with him.
He inspired so many young sailors, encouraging them in every way, particularly at his home club in Bendigo.
RIP Jack…a great man! Condolences to the family.
