RIP Colin, you have earned that old mate.
Many happy memories at the Collingwood Football and Cricket Clubs – a superb sportsman. We still remember our Surfers Paradise trips when Nugget would be on the table tennis table all day as no one could beat him.
Condolences to the Tully Family.
To my old mate Col, gunna miss having a beer with you at the Lakeview , another great man I will have to think of everyday. I will remember our golf games where you always managed to out drive me by a metre( most of the time ), I spose that was the competitive spirit coming out, and your trick left handed golf shots that went as far the right handed ones, our trips to the Collingwood past players were great days and and remain firmly in my memory of great time with you. RIP Dear Col regards Craig Gardner.
We, at the Collingwood Cricket Club, can join to say that we have not seen a more gifted and talented Cricketer . On a dirty wicket at Prahran, on an equally dirty day, Nugget batted for one hour without making a run….and then made 100 in the second hour…! My family loved him….a true gentleman.

After growing up as an avid Collingwood supporter, it was great to get to know Col better over the last 10 years, having first played cricket against him in 1973 (at Victoria Park), then again in 1988 (Hobart) then many happy golfing memories at Bendigo Golf Club over the past 10 years. Unfortunately we never got to share his golfing comeback. My thoughts are with Col’s family and friends. Rest in peace old mate.

RIP peace Nugget. Suze, Franky and I feel grateful to be able to spend quality time with you over the last few years living in Bendigo. Loved how you always passed on your wealth of knowledge to everyone that loved sport as you did. You were a truly great man!
I am fortunate and pleased to be able to say that I was a team mate of COLIN TULLY, it was a pleasure to watch him bat. A truly gifted cricketer and sportsman.
A true gentleman…
Rest in peace Col, Peter and Sue Patterson
When I first arrived at Collingwood Colin took me under his wing and we became friends. I hurt my knee during my first year I think and Col offered to drive me back to Colac as I had no other way of getting home. Put me up at his house when we both played in Perth
What a talent! I played golf with him in Bendigo when he had to borrow some left handed clubs and had 77 off the stick! Best snooker player I have seen. Most importantly Col was a wonderful kind person whom I will always have a favourite spot in my heart for.
Rest peacefully Colin.
Long time friend to late Ossie, Alice and David Blair.
Sympathy to all Colins family.
Cheryle , Scott and Craig
Many memories from so many years ago.
Kick it long Colin.
A friendly smile that was always happy to greet you. What a great sportsman. People loved being in Nugget’s company.
Colin, nothing can replace a shared history, one I am very grateful for; work collogues, team mate, lots of laughs on the golf course and several cold VBs. Enjoyed our recent phone chats and the support you showed me.
Thanks for the journey. It was an honour to call you my friend. RIP mate. Mick
As a young boy watching Collingwood at Victoria Park, I ‘grew up’ seeing Colin display his skills, particularly his exquisite kicking. I think we all remember well, Colin winning the longest kick competition on World of Sport.
Many years later, I got to meet Colin through his participation with the Collingwood Past Players and the functions he regularly attended. Always good company and a true gentleman.
Thoughts are with all Colin’s family and friends

It was an honour to know Colin. What a brilliant sportsman and person. Shared many great times together. Rest In Peace. Bill and Julie Picken
Fond memories of a dear friend in Col, from those early days in the boarding house in Clifton Hill, playing football together and working with Mick Erwin and Col at Merrett Hassett – he was a talented all round sportsman and a very genuine person who valued the friendships he established at that time. He will be sadly missed.
Rest In Peace brother, played one season in Hobart 1984/85 for Kingborough , great guy
To Trevor and Glenda – remembering our childhood days in Quarry Hill playing out in the back street – now a main
road! I have reason to be very grateful to Colin when he drove my handicapped son to and from his day training
centre, so was very happy to come into contact with him again in later years. My sympathy to you both.
Colin was my club coach at North Hobart Cricket Club in the mid-1980s. He selected me in first grade when I hadn’t justified my selection. My first catch, at second slip, that debut match was off his bowling. Nugget was nothing but supportive of me. I saw Nugget at a club reunion more than 20 years later and he recognized me immediately and greeted me like a long lost friend. That was the last time I saw him. I am saddened by Nugget’s passing and I am very grateful to have known him. Nugget’s impact on Hobart’s sporting community was immense and he is remembered with great respect and affection by his many teammates and opponents.
Colin was my footy coach at Sandy Bay in the early eighties. Always a true gentleman. Condolences to the Tully family.
I’m so sad to hear of Colin’s recent passing. He worked with my father Thorold Merrett for many years and I have many happy memories of times spent working and socialising with him. He managed dads store in Tasmania. My family lost touch with him over the years and I only recently tried to get in touch with him. I’m really sad and although the Tully family don’t know me please know that Colin was a delightful young man. Thorold is still alive having just turned 87. I will pass on this news to him. He too will be sad to hear it. Colin is remembered with great respect.
RIP old mate
My condolences to the Tully family.
I have fond memories of Colin
